This is a game-ready statue modeled for an abandoned drive-in theater environment I am slowly working on here and there.
My inspiration behind this strange statue is from a retro-themed diner called The Chatterbox Drive-In, sadly torn down in 2020 to make way for a gas station. One thing that would always strike me going there was the strange anthropomorphic hot dog statue as you entered the large dining room, which I somehow managed to forget existed every time we stopped there to eat.
In planning the drive-in theatre environment I am working on, I suddenly remembered that hot dog statue and knew I had to make him. I went down a rabbit hole of researching hot-dog man statues and found the exact one they had at the Chatterbox. But another version caught my eye, in Dallas, Texas, at a place called Wild About Harry's, which also sadly closed on July 4th, 2021.
Leaving this description on a somewhat hopeful note, this Hot Dog Man statue will now be digitally preserved, even as retro-style restaurants seem to be on their way out.
